Qualification Purpose:

The Focus Awards Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care (RQF) is aimed at those who are new or are intending to work within the adult social care in England.

The Focus Awards Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care (RQF) is aimed at developing the learner’s knowledge and understanding of the following areas relating to working in adult social care:

  • Communication
  • Duty of care
  • Equality, diversity, and inclusion
  • Handling information
  • Health and safety
  • Personal development
  • Person centred approaches
  • Role of the social care worker
  • Safeguarding

Age Ranges:

Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However, learners can be aged under 16 to undertake this qualification.

Geographical Coverage:

This qualification is available in England and Northern Ireland.

Learner Entry Requirements:

There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification. There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, re ding, and writing) involved so learners should have basic skills in

communication at Level 2.

Assessment Methods:

This qualification is Internally Assessed. Each learner must create a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each unit.

The main pieces of evidence for the portfolio could include some or all of the following:

  • Assessor observation
  • Witness testimony
  • Learner product
  • Worksheets
  • Assignments/projects/reports
  • Record of oral and written questioning
  • Learner and peer reports
  • Recognition of prior learning (RPL)
